Transitional Trends: Leopard Lust

Wednesday, August 27, 2014
This past weekend after I got back from a week long business trip with six hours of travel time, I relaxed Saturday morning in bed covered with magazines for Fall 2014.  I'm a magazine hoarder, I love to flip through the pages, folding them over on the things I love and  ripping pages out for my vision board or inspiration binder.  Many articles and how to's focused on dressing for the transition of Summer to Fall with trends carrying over into the season.  With that, I had to give you my version of taking a Summer Cutie into a Fall Classic.

For the summer, I finally found a pair of leopard soft pants that fit great, nice material and will transition nicely into my Fall wardrobe, for now I plan on wearing in it in a Sexy Classic way.

Top and Pants: It's Fashion Metro| Handbag: Fossil| Earrings and Necklace: H&M |
Watch: Micheal Kors| Shoes: Me Too

I found this look to be perfect for the warm weather here in Alabama, but I know from last week the northern states are cooler and they need to prepare for the change and stay on trend.

And with this in mind........

Wear the same outfit later in the season. I added a blazer, patent leather pumps and red lips.
This look can also work for a easy day/night combo.

Have fun with the change in weather. Don't pack everything up and forget you have awesome items in your closet for one season.  Make your wardrobe work for you.

Turned the shoulder purse into a clutch and DONE!

Leopard always seems to be the print trending on the list no matter the year or season.  It's "Hot" in the Summer and "Classic" in the Fall.
You really can never go wrong with leopard, in my personal option.

THANKS FOR DROPPING BY!!

30plusstyle: Trending~Dresses over Pants.

Wednesday, August 20, 2014
Good Morning Dolls!!!

It's time again for the ladies of 30PlusStyle to explore the wonderful world of fashion and give you a look into what's trending.  RIGHT NOW: Dresses over Pants or Skirts over Pants is currently a look that has come back on the scene. You remember the semi grunge look of the 90's? It's back with a little glamour.

Recently Beyonce gave the popular 90's trend a refresh with her look below.

And Emma Watson gave it not one, but two opportunities to be great on the red carpet.

(SIGH) Needless to say that although I love both looks on these ladies, some trends aren't for us girls with a little more loving to spread.   I decided to give you my best options to tackle current trends even when they're far away from your comfort zone.

Left: Sheer Dress over Leopard soft pants with lace bra.  Right: Fit and Flare Dress with Ponte Pants.

I first must admit, this is FAR from my comfort zones and I think I tried about ten options to "Make It Work",in my Tim Gunn voice.  I actually attempted one with pictures and decided just last week, I hated the look; It wasn't my best to date. For some this look may be perfect for you and that is why I am sharing it,  but I felt the dress made me look extremely heavy and it didn't make me smile.
Remember WEAR WHAT MAKE YOU FEEL GOOD AND SMILE!!! ALWAYS!!!

Now, my second look gave me a glimmer of happiness and I wanted to share it with everyone!!!!

This CUTE, AFFORDABLE and ON TREND LOOK made me a very happy girl.  The dress is from the Missy section of It's Fashion. At a size XL this cute fit and flare with a deep V front stopped mid thigh on me and well......my hips did the rest.  I felt fun, flirty and sexy in this little number.  It would make a great date night outfit with your beau.

To begin shopping for this look start by looking in the regular or mainsteam section of your favorite stores for fit and flare dresses. Most will stop mid thigh on you and let the curves take over. Pair with an ponte pant or jean that stops at the ankle and throw on some heels.  They say the higher the better, I say go for a comfortable height.

Top: It's Fashion| Pants: Jones New York-TJMaxx| Bag: Charming Charlies| Shoes: Unisa

Remember every trend may not work for your body, the vision or inspiration may also be off.  Just have fun and be creative. EVERY TREND IS NOT GOING TO BE GREAT!
Being silly can also help.

Yes!  This look made me Smile!!!

Casual Friday: Maxed Out

Friday, August 15, 2014
Happy Friday Dolls!!

Here's another look for your "Casual Friday" closet dilemma.  I'm a huge fan of maxi skirts and dresses for work.  The maxi is a great item to have in your arsenal of easy to wear clothing that can be styled for work or play.

Vintage Inspiration: Just a Little Bardot

Tuesday, August 12, 2014
Hey Dolls!!

Let's talk SEXY!!!! When most refer to "sexy" clothing on a curvy woman, they imagine a form fitting outfit that cling to every dangerous curve on her body....I am guilty of this also sometimes.  But what I really love is when a woman showcases the part of her body she feeling is the sexiest. For me it's my shoulders, in my opinion.  I am always searching for tops that showcase this feature and when I need a little inspiration, I check my vintage files to see who embraced the style I am seeking the most.

When it comes to showcasing sexy shoulders, only one woman holds the title.  The beautiful Bridgette Bardot. This style icon is the inspiration behind the shoulder baring trend from the 50's. Her signature wide neckline, off the shoulder top became known the Bardot to the fashion world.  Today, this style is still embrace with open arms.......well, baring shoulders that is.

I purchased this vintage skirt around June off Esty.  I can't remember the vendor name, but I can tell you that Esty, is a great place to start your vintages search.  Storevny is also a great place to begin looking for vintage items at a great price.  My Bardot top was $3.99 from the local Cititrends.

Yes, I was loving this look and was thinking about bringing up the hemline a little, but my mother was so against that alteration.

What's the sexiest part of your body?  How do you flaunt it?

Casual Fridays

Friday, August 8, 2014
Happy Friday!! I can't tell you how happy I am to see this day.  I can catch up on my blog, plan some relaxation and do a little housework;  it's been a very rough week. But before I plan weekend, I wanted to share a little Casual Friday's attire with you. For most plus size women,  this specific day in the week can be a huge fail, because it's a little tricky.  Work wear for "Casual Friday" should always have a professional polished look with touches of relaxation and personality. When I being to think"Causal Friday", I start with tailored denim trousers, a colored blazers, twill pencil skirts, chambray shirts and loafers just to name a few.

And for the month of August,  let's talk about that dreaded Casual Friday and what will work for you.  I would love to hear your dilemmas. My email box is  right over here>>>>>

To kick it off !!!! My favorite look: Chambray shirt and Full Printed Skirt!

This look is and will always be my favorite look for "Casual Friday".  Chambray shirt are the perfect item to relax your look.  Mine came from Target, On Sale for 13.98.  It has a fitted look tat can be work outside, tucked in or tied up (guess which one I have been wearing the most).
Here are a couple of my favorite Chambury Shirts:

Avenue Polka Dot
Belk's Crown And Ivy

Both are CURRENTLY on sale!

The next item is a fun printed skirt.  I found this one at K&G Superstore in Birmingham, AL.  I hadn't been to one in ages and although it was a search and rescue for this skirt, I couldn't be more pleased to pay $19.99 for a skirt that is so Jibri inspired.

I completed the look with my favorite summer bag from belk's, some bangles, hoops, Sam Edelman wedge sandals and a fun necklace.
Use accessories to tie in a punch of color.

WHAT DO YOU THINK? WHAT ARE YOU WEARING ON CASUAL FRIDAY?

Have a Blessed Weekend!

xoxo
