Springtime Vibe with Lula Roe

Tuesday, March 29, 2016

Hey Luvs!! This week I wanted to share with you some new finds for us#teamthickthigh members. Spring is finally here and with the change in temperature comes the blissful thought of less layers and easy fabric. The best part is sundress season is here!  Do you know how much I love this time of the year and to find some really cute dresses that accommodate these 58" is a great find.

The first dress is from LuLaRoe.  A modern line of women's clothing that specializes in maxi skirts, pencil skirts, a-line skirts, dresses, various tops, and leggings in several cool patterns and prints to choose from.. It's family owned based in Corona, California and sold exclusively through consultants.  My consultant is  Julia Gillhouse, she runs in-home pop-up boutiques. Cool Right?!

I'm wearing the Amelia Dress a stretchy knit fabric dress with alot of comfort and ease. The back of has an exposed zipper and the box pleats give life to these thighs with under this full skirt. And she has POCKETS! I fell in love with the print of this dress. It has that African vibe I love mixed with a multi-color chevron.  I did find out that if you find a print and LOVE it, GET IT! once it's gone you may never see it again.
You may actually have a piece of clothing that no one else in your area or even your state has!

Fit Note:

The cut of items are sized on the straight to Jr. Plus scale. So the 2XL that I have on fits more like a 18-20. The site says up to 3XL, my consultant didn't have this size available.  I think a size 3XL would provide more coverage for workwear.

How do handle jr. plus sizing? How would you wear it?

For info on the Amelia dress, please email

julia.lularoe@gmail.com and tell her I sent you!!

Until Next Time.

Spring Florals

Friday, March 25, 2016
Hey Luvs

A couple weeks ago, I was in Atlanta attending and working The Curvy Fashionista Brunch Series and I wore this dress from the Signature by Robbie Lee line found in most Belk’s and Macy’s department stores and everyone loved the dress so much I had to a min to do a small post on and share some details about the dress and my look from that day.  I know the rules have often told us to stay away from floral in fear of looking a walking garden, but this dress didn’t deliver that vibe to me. This dress is the perfect introduction to Spring in my opinion. Unfortunately, this dress has sold out, but I found several other options.
I usually gravitate to A-line dresses when I’m waiting to feel extra girly and fun. This dress is my first scuba dress which was hard for me to believe because I’m such a huge fan of the material. I’ve always thought it would weigh me down with the heavy fell of the material, but this dress had a very light and flowy feel to it.  The best benefit about scuba is the it smooths over every bump of your body and delivers a clean, crisp finish to your look.

This collection has several dresses perfect for any spring occasion on your social calendar and the price point leaves plenty room for accessories.

The 5 Spring Wardrobe Essentials You Need

Friday, March 18, 2016
Spring has almost sprung, so it’s time to get your warm weather wardrobe in check. Stocking your closet with some of the basics is all too important for having a stress-free and care-free season. From tees to tanks to flats, we’ve compiled a few items that you might want to consider adding to your closet in order to beat the heat. Check out our suggestions below and get inspired for spring!

A beautiful and versatile tank is at the top of our list of basics for spring, and over at Woman Within they’re loving this surplice tunic with a beautiful casual chic look that will pair perfectly with all of your jeans and capris. The faux wrap front style is flattering for a variety of shapes and sizes and will keep you cool when the weather warms up. Feel like the diva you are by dressing up this tunic tank top with your favorite jewelry and accessories like necklaces, bangles, oversized sunhats, and sunglasses.

Short sleeve white and short sleeve black tees are always in style, as noted by according to Real Simple, so why not combine the best of both worlds with this fabulous black and white striped T-shirt. It’s tailored in all the right places and will add a touch of modern style and interest to your springtime outfits. Wear this with solid colored bottoms or pair with neutrals and use bright, fun jewelry to infuse a pop of color.

A neutral cardigan to keep you cool on those chilly nights or inside the office is a definite staple for spring. We adore this particular piece for its breathable stitch, ¾ sleeve design, and ample length. The thin band around the neck and opening gives it substance, while the crocheted look really epitomizes the lightness of spring. Pair this with tanks, dresses, jeans, slacks, flats, or sandals, and wear it belted or open. This is a truly versatile cardigan that can be worn many different ways.

Spring is almost here, which means it’s time to pull out those capris to beat the heat. Stay cool in these 5-pocket stretch capris by Ellos in a beautiful blue hue that’s reminiscent of the sea. These would look great mixed with other colors for a bold look, or with neutrals, like white, for a clean, crisp, and refreshing ensemble. Pair these capris with flats, wedges, or sandals for a great bottom you can wear all through the spring and summer months.

Pointed toe skimmers are near the top of Glamour’s must-have spring 2016 compilation, so we’ve chosen these whimsical, offbeat flats by J. Renee for their unique approach to the typical warm weather shoe. We’re loving the mesh sides for breathability and the pop art-inspired pattern will look great paired with colorful skinny jeans, shorts, and rompers. Definitely give these a try for a cute, bold, and compliment-garnering pair of kicks.

We hope you’ve enjoyed our top five selections for a stellar spring wardrobe. Other items to consider are a great fitting dress, a pair of cute wedges, a skirt, and a pair or two of shorts to really round out your wardrobe. Remember to have fun with accessories, and take a chance every now and then. It’s easier to pull off trends than you might think, especially since confidence is key.

Cargo Like a Girl:The Who What Wear Trench Cargo/Collaboration with The Jenesaisquoi

Tuesday, March 8, 2016

A couple months ago the founders of WhoWhatWear debut their first Target collaboration online and in stores.  The collaboration features an assortment of cool everyday pieces that mix and match effortlessly in any wardrobe. The preview of pieces really had me excited for this partnership.  As I browsed the lookbook I saw so many items that would work in my everyday life. Moto jackets, tie blouses, bright print pencil skirts and shirt dresses to name a few.

I was elated to see these real pieces for plus size women like myself.  Of course, my enthusiasm had some moments of disappointment as everything was not available in plus size or the fit was off, but there were some silver lining pieces like this cargo trench vest gone girly or as I like to call it Utilitarian Chic (see similar look here). This piece was so cute and functional in any wardrobe, I knew I had to have it and I knew my blogger boo, The Jenesaisquoi was feeling the vibe also.  So of course this meant we had to share how we rock Who Wear What cargo trench vest.
