Mixed Prints with Maggy London

Thursday, February 25, 2016

Hey Luvs!!! I’m ecstatic to announce my new collaboration with London Times Curve by Maggy London for Spring 2016.  These fun, colorful and ladylike looks from this collection works beautifully with everything I’m here for this season.  I’ll be sharing a couple of my favorite pieces from the London Times Curve collection and of course reviewing pieces that really caught my eye like this mixed print dress.   While most people fear the very thought of coupling prints and patterns; I revel in every moment. What can I say, “I’m kind of a sucker for mixing prints” and this dress hits the mark.  The bold floral pattern mixed with stripes let off a feminine yet edge vibe and I decided to follow it's lead by pairing it with a black moto from Fashion to Figure and weather appropriate booties from DSW.

Fit Notes:
Because this dress is categorized as a flare dress, I ordered my normal size of 24W to allow more length in the skirt.  The dress did run a little bit larger in the bust area, so if you want a fitted look go a size down to achieve a true fit and flare. But be warned the skirt length will shorten if you go down a size.

Updating My Denim with Christopher and Banks Everyday Boyfriend Jeans

Monday, February 22, 2016

There was a time when I struggled with just the thought of shopping for jeans.  I think is a problem of the masses sometimes. For me it’s the daily struggle of having thick thighs or in my case 58” of thighs to find a great pair of jeans to accommodate. Many women have this problem; jeans fit in the waist, but not in the legs/thigh area or fit in the legs/thigh area and not in the waist. Of course this is not a new struggle for your girl, it’s just lead me expand my search and be a little more creative with my findings.  It’s about building my own “go to” jean catalog; a selection of jeans I know will fit my 58” thighs without much of a struggle.  A couple of my favorites are Bandalino’s Mandie CollectionLane Bryant’s Genius Fit Collection and my closet faithful, Everyday Jeans from Christopher and Banks.

Since I’ve been working with the Christopher and Banks brand, I’ve experience a whole new kind of love for denims. I’m now wearing denim more often and exploring new ways to maintain my signature style with this new friend. See other ways I've worn my CJBanks denim (here and here).  The latest edition to my collection is the Everyday Boyfriend Jean.  A great relaxed fitting pair of jean that offers endless style options.Take a look and I styled these new classic with one of my favorite coats.

Grammy Inspiration: Black Lace Beauty

Thursday, February 18, 2016
I don't know about you, but I live for the red carpet during award show season.  It’s the time of the year that usually predicts the trends for the upcoming seasons.  When most designers are in their pregame for New York Fashion Week and testing the waters with fresh ideas.  And these ideas should leave you inspired. Like the vision of Jazmine Sullivan and Adele perfectly draped in black lace sent me into Mortisha Adams fierceness mode. Styled by Timothy Snell, Jazmine’s custom Michael Costello gown was perfect in every way. And Adele’s Givenchy gown gave a new meaning to dark angel. I found myself in love with both pieces and I usually don't fall for this hue on the color wheel.  But there is something very different and beautiful about the shades of black when accompanied by lace.  I’m not sure if it’s the overly feminine vibe of the lace mixed with the dominance of black that has me vibin on it, but I’m here for it.  What I’m not here for is the price tag for these fine pieces, so here are my picks for The Plus Size girl to wear Black Lace Grammy Inspired looks that you can purchase right now.

Recap of My Valentine's Picks featuring The Shoppes at Eastchase

Monday, February 8, 2016
Happy Monday!!!!

Last Friday I was invited to takeover the Instagram account for one of my favorite shopping centers in my hometown. The Shoppes at Eastchase located in Montgomery, AL has everything I'm looking for when I want to take a break away from online shopping. The property is filled with many of my favorite stores like DSW, LaneBryant, Panera, Dillards, Pier One and World Market to name a few. I had the opportunity to share with followers my picks for Valentine's Day.  From mixing up treats at Williams Sonoma to playing with all the beautiful pieces at Pandora and discovering Ciao Bella, a local shop with handbags that make my heart sing; I had a wonderful time and I can't wait to share more of these experiences with you.  Don't worry if you missed the takeover, check out the pics below to see my adventure.

Stripes X Plaids with Addition Elle + Zizzi + Navabi

Friday, February 5, 2016
Hey Pretty Girls!!

Happy Friyay to you.

I'm finally getting back into the swing of things this year and discovering my journey into the realms of "New Year, New Me" mantra.  My version of this popular saying is more about trying new things and updating my wardrobe to reflect a fresh look.  Also, celebrating my 40th birthday last year really put some things into a new perceptive, but that is another post for another time.  I know you're for the fashion.

Today's look is about mixing patterns and playing with styles from

I first fell in love with Michel Studio Long Sleeve Swing Dress last year as part of the Addition Elle F/W collection.  I've been promising myself to try the swing dress trend and see where it takes me.
I knew I would love it already because of the stripe pattern, but I needed something else to make this look more my style.  This Checkered Wool Blend Coat from Zizzi  is one of first purchase from Navabi and I have to say, I'm pretty happy I went with my gut on this one.

What do you think?

Style Note
I went with the size 3x  for coverage in the dress and 22/24 for the coat. Both pieces provided great coverage and the coat is perfect for winter.  I love mixing patterns, but if this not your thing go with a solid.  The dress is also perfect for the Spring to Fall transition so I know this beauty will rotate back up.

Exploring with Lilac Gray: Pantone Spring 2016 Blogger Collaboration

Monday, February 1, 2016

Hey Pretty Girls!

Every year the color genesis at Pantone create the season's most sought after color list.  This list of colors set the tone for everything in fashion, home decor and inspiration.  Together with some of my blogger boos, we decided  to have a little fun with this season Spring 2016 collection.

I choose the cool, calming tone of Lilac Gray.  For some people the color is just a simply lavender or gray.  I think this is where I embrace the "Miranda Priestly" train of thought.  If you aren't familiar with,  I will leave my favorite scene from "Devil Wear Prada" at the end of this post.

Now, Let's talk about this Lilac Gray.

I wanted my look to be easy and chic, something I knew this color would achieve effortlessly. I've been playing with the thought of adding bomber jackets to my wardrobe to give my faithful moto jackets a break.  Just so happen this textured bomber from Old was just the right thing to add my closet.

When I ordered the piece it was listed as "Glimmer Gray", so you can imagine my surprise when I open the bag saw the Lilac Gray!

I paired the bomber with an old gray embellished collar from Dillards.  Black slim fit pants from Jones New York with black pumps to complete the look.

Style Note
I ordered the size 3X in the jacket.  I'm usually not a fan of lined items, but with the generous cut of this item wearing this with a couple layers will work for those chilly days and nights.  I also think it is a great minimalist piece.  I can see wearing this bomber with  a black midi dress or tee with jeans also. Definitely a great piece to own.
