Introducing Harper and Liv: New Plus Size Brand

Monday, April 27, 2015
A couple weeks ago, I was invited to the launch of new plus size brand, harper + liv. First, I can’t tell how thrilled I was to receive such an honorable treat only to turn it down because I didn’t live in New York (insert sad face).   Nevertheless, I kept in close contact with the brand and now I have the great pleasure to introduce you to new plus size brand.

The harper + liv brand is definitely winning my heart with its blend of Tropical Paradise meets City Sleek. And coming from the prestigious family of the Perry Ellis International brand, I’m expecting only the best in design and fabric.  Here are a couple of my favorite pieces from the Summer 2015 coming in May.

The Tropics  are EVERYWHERE this season.
I am loving all the tropical influences of bright green palm trees, vibrant tropical flowers and easy island living, it just makes me ready for a full on vacation in Bahamas.

Remember what I said about the tropics and the city.  This printed jumpsuit and shorts are perfect for the a causal Saturday afternoon. I would definitely wear these to a city festival, craft show or day of shopping.

Of course,  if you can't make it to the tropics, why not get into the mindset.  Enjoy some pieces that put you in the mood like this easy swing tank and skirt (below).  The skirt with a tank or crop is just right for a evening night out in Miami.  Pair with the sign tank and have a wear it as a matching set, which is very popular this year.

Of course may ever come over my love for a great cover up or kimono.
I can see these two in my beach vacation bag ready to hit the sand with a great bikini and then later for a stroll in town.   Either way the options are endless and vacation packing should be extremely easy with this collection.  They range in price from $39-$129 and will be available at Dillards in store and online.

What do you think?  Which are your favorite? How would you wear them?

Three Looks featuring Rebdolls Midi Set

Friday, April 24, 2015
Happy Friday!!!

Last week, I teamed up with eleven other plus size bloggers and created our own color challenge.  It was so much fun and I had a chance to wear my signature color of course.  Yellow is my jam! The ladies and I were inspired to bring in spring with various shades from the OPI Hawaiian collection. T Take a look at the recap here.  For the challenge, I got a chance to wear a  two piece midi from Rebdolls that I won in a contest,  the two appeared as a dress because of my short torso :( and many of my readers wanted to the set broken up...So I decided to create this post this week to show you a couple ways you can wear any 2 pieces set for a weekend getaway.  BTW..This is going in the suitcase for June's Full Figure Fashion Week.

Take a look at my Three Fun Weekend looks with the Rebdolls midi set.

The first look is all about a little sass with a crop top.  I'm loving the wide strap crop tops that covers the bra straps and had great coverage for those pesky little fat pockets.

Seriously though....I was loving this outfit.
Crop: Rebdolls (Sold Out)| Skirt: Fashion to Figure (Sold Out)| Necklace: Rocksbox!! Use My Code: prettypluspepxoxo to join and your first month is free!!

Fancy!!! Thanks Rocksbox!

Another look was full on causal.  Pair a bright bottom with a denim top and look effortless chic.  I even thought about tying the shirt up and throwing on a nude pump for a sexy date night look.  Maybe next time.
Top: Target| Skirt: Rebdolls| Bag: Gifted| Shoes: DSW (Old)

Lastly but not least, the look that started the post. Take a look and let me know what you think. Because of my short torso, the midi tucked perfectly under my breast and the crop just hanged over to create this seamless look. To see more check out my post here.
How would you mix this up?  Ready for a weekend getaway?

Have Fun!!!

Recap: The #PSOPIChallenge: Plus Size Edition

Thursday, April 16, 2015
Did your timeline experience a surge of Plus Size Beauties Slaying Spring Colors yesterday?

12 Plus Size Bloggers X 12 Spring Colors from the Pop Sugar OPI Challenge equaled to One Awesome Collaboration.  I immediately fell in love with the entire concept of this post last month from the popular fashion site, but felt a certain kind of way when I didn’t see any plus size women represented in the street style collection.
Was it that, plus size women are not into Spring colors? Spring fashion?
Why were we not represented in this post?

PopSugar OPI Hawaii Color Challenge: The Plus Size Edition

Tuesday, April 14, 2015

Hey Luvs!

With spring in full bloom, you can't help but to take in these moments to bask in the glory of the vibrant shades of bright yellows, orange, blues and greens.  These brilliant hues are clearly the sign we've been waiting for to leave dreary old man winter at the door and open up to spring.  One thing that really got me excited about the awakening of the season was a post from online media site PopSugar for the OPI Color Challenge.

I immediately fell in love with the entire concept of the post, but felt a certain kind of way when I didn’t see any plus size women represented in the post.  I then decided why not call upon a couple of my favorite plus size beauties and create our own OPI Color Challenge.  Can you imagine? 12 Plus Size Bloggers… 12 Colors of spring… 1 colorful collaboration?   With the help from a couple of my blogger boos, we created our version.

PopSugar OPI Color Challenge: The Plus Size Edition...Of course.

The ladies and I had twelve colors to choose from ranging from creamy nude to vibrant red.  My color of choice was Bright Pineapple.  If you haven’t heard, I kinda have a thing for the color yellow. Every year, I must break out into my "Happy Color."
It's my spring tradition.

When I begin my search, I knew I want a chic look something different from my normal.  I then remembered winning a look from the unapologetic fashion queens of Rebdolls Some months Marie Chic Curves had a contest and I won!  I picked the  Yellow 2- Piece Midi Set from Rebdolls, this was definitely something outside my normal, but perfect for this moment.

I was a little upset that the set didn't look like the model in the tummy area, but It actually turned out that I like the longer crop top more for this type of look anyway.

A quick note on this set: I am in love with this midi.  This high waist skirt has a good amount of stretch and it's perfect midi length. I could use a little more spandex, but I will survive.
I think I'm a #Rebdoll now!!

I paired the set with the perfect spring white moto jacket from JCPenny and black pump to keep the chic look going.
I kept the jewelry simple with a silver bar necklace from my local Premier Jeweler rep and hoops from TJ Maxx.

Yellow is a great color to add to your wardrobe.  It will brighten up any piece from the darkest of grey to the brightest hue of blue.  Play with a little yellow in clutch or shoe.  Or go all out and get a 2 piece yellow situation like me.
Either way go out and enjoy Spring! Grab a Rainbow of Color!!

Now if yellow is not your color, maybe one of the other eleven colors will entice you.
Make sure you go and check out the rest of my lady luvs.

Going Gingham with Modcloth Parisian Picnic Skirt

Monday, April 6, 2015
I first featured this skirt about a month ago on the Spring Skirt Alert, it was a crowd favorite and I was super excited when it became available. I had to have it.   This sweet gingham print in the charming colors of pink and white is springtime perfection.

Gingham has to be one of the hottest patterns for the spring and summer and I'm kind of excited for it's arrival.  Traditionally you can find this pattern in black, red or navy, it kind of rare to see it in pink, which was another factor that drew me into this skirt. The material is lite and will catch a  breeze in a minute (seriously.....seriously)  but this is what make spring fashion so fun.  You want a breeze catching skirt that flirts with the wind. Now because I'm so into mixing prints, I had to do a spring mix for this skirt. I paired this look with a beautiful cap sleeve shirt from JCPenny; finished a bright colored clutch and nude strappy sandals.

Now, I do have a bit of bad news,  this beauty is sold out but in true Modcloth fashion if you request her they may bring her back. So please request away and I will be on the lookout for you.

Now, this is a very rare sight.  i'm wearing contacts and my Vince Camuto sunnies.  Very rare will I wear my contacts.  I actually love my glasses, but to switch things up like they say. I decided to go with my contacts.

If you haven't notice yet, I'm a bit of a geek about my festive headgear.  My season crowns are always fun to wear during the holidays.

Recap of My First Macy Spring Preview

Saturday, April 4, 2015
Last month was so exciting for me;'  I had the wonderful experience hosting a Spring review for my local Macy's Women's Department.   Have you checked out your local Macy's lately?  I found several wonderful and fun items there.  Here are my eight Macy Spring Looks you must have!

This colorful look was the first to hit the runway.
Say goodbye to the black suit and bring some color to your workspace.

Because I'm obsessed with the moto jacket and pattern mixing for Spring, I had to have this look in the preview. A fun, floral pleated skirt with a polka dot blouse and topped off with a leather moto is bound to make you fell pretty confident.

The color Coral is my personal JAM!!!! It has the ability to make any skin tone look amazing, bright and ready for Spring.  This dress moved with easy and the sheer gingham pattern allowed this beautiful model to work the runway.

The next look was all about the bringing your own funk to your look. Boho Chic is big this season and a fun way to give a bathing suit some double duty is to mix with a pair of Macy's Signature Ex-Boyfriend jeans, kimono and chunky sandals.

Need another way to rock out your Ex-Boyfriend jeans is to pair with a light jacket and pumps.  This looks can go out with the girls and your boo thang.

My favorite way to pull a look together is from inspiration from a tv shows, magazine and music. This look was inspired by a character from FOX's Empire.  This powerful red jumpsuit commands attentions.

Another alternative to the jumpsuit is a the romper.  As the baby sister to the romper, this piece screams summer nights and festivals.

A flirty skirt look can always have something extra.  I added a denim vest to this look to give this mom on the go a casual and easy going vibe.  Again the color coral makes this look perfect on her.

All these awesome looks can be found at you local Macy's and online.   I have to give a huge "THANK YOU" to the Management and Staff of Macy's of Riverchase Galleria, Birmingham, AL
To the lovely ladies who put up with me that day.

And the Family, Friends and Bloggers who came out to support me!  See Ya Next Time!

The Way She Wears It: First Lady Michelle Obama

Wednesday, April 1, 2015

Today I wanted to introduce to you a new series on the blog called, "The Way She Wears It".  This series will be all about our style muses and how the plus size girl can achieve the same look effortlessly.  I wanted to start the series with my all time favorite style muses, the fashionable First Lady of The United States, Mrs. Michelle Obama.  No stranger to curves, the FLOTUS knows how to show off her best features and slay any event.  I remember when I first saw her....I was blowed away by her classic style that had just the right amount of edge.  This was so me!  So many women can related to FLOTUS curves, but not many know where to begin to obtain the pieces.  That is what I am here for.

Here are MY FIVE FAVORITE  FLOTUS looks that will leave you feeling fabulous.
(Say that 5 times)

The Way She Wears It: First Lady Michelle Obama
No stranger to prints, The First Lady plays with all types of patterns and prints.
Windy City Dress in Delft from ModCloth is the perfect for the dress for many occassions.
The Way She Wears It: Michelle Obama
The color Yellow is really my signature color.  I love the warm, happy feeling I get when I'm wearing something yellow, so of course this dress would appeal to my emotions.  The sad part is this dress has appealled to several and is no longer available but eShakti Women's Havana dress is a great alternative.
The Way She Wears It: First Lady Michelle Obama
I'm not much of a match suit girl, so this look give me the perfect suiting without being all matched up. The right trousers can do wonders for your attitude and day, check out these from Simply Be.  Because color blocking will never go out of trend, don't be afraid to pull in colors you never thought to wear before like this Tangerine Blazer  and Yellow Tee combo.
The Way She Wears It: First Lady Michelle Obama
Back to Prints!!! Be Inspired! FLOTUS plays this look well with this Kenzo Fit and Flare dress with a bold belt. Playing with a bold print requires a bolder accessory. This dress from City Chic Online is just the Kenzo inspired print a girl needs in her life.

The Way She Wears It: First lady Michelle Obama

Nothing beats ladylike sophistication like a silk woven midi in the Springtime. eShakti Women's Sweetheart bird print cotton silk dress is a just the dress you need for in your closet for Spring and Summer. The coat may be a little too much for a plus size girl but this dress can be altered to fit your style.

See you too can have FLOTUS Style and did you notice the price points on this pieces?

Who would you like to see next time?
