When Winter Calls:Transitioning with Style

Thursday, November 30, 2017

Hey Pretties!!

The weather here is finally a bit chilly and I have to admit as much as I love sweater weather, I have some pieces in my closet I can't bear to let go of for the season.  Case in point, this gingham print fit, and flare from Lane Bryant.  This dress was clearly a summer hit this year.  It was the perfect mix of chic, classic and flirty.

Seriously, I totally understand the heartache Rudy endured in the episode where she had to give up her cute green dress and accept winter time (Cosby fans would understand). Do you have a summer piece you love so much you just can't bear to see it packed up for the season?  I just had to come to grips and figure out a way to keep it in the rotation a little longer for the fall/winter.

One sure fire way to still rock your favorite summer dresses or even shorts in this changing seasons would be to layer the pieces up.   Try some fun tights and dusters to give new life to your favorite piece of the season.

I paired it with a pair of tights from, a turtleneck and a cool leopard moto from Charlotte for a cool girl fall/winter look.

Are you mixing up summer pieces for winter looks?  What are you doing to keep your summer hope alive?  Let me know!

Nothing Sweeter Than Sweater Weather featuring Tracee Ellis Ross for JCPenny and Eloquii

Monday, November 20, 2017

Hey Pretties!!

I know it’s been a while since I last did this thing called blogging. I really don’t know what to say, I guess you can say, “Don’t Call It A Comeback.” Now that this is out the way…it’s finally Sweater Weather here in Alabama and what better excuse for me to be a little excited about blogging again? Plus, I was really excited to share one of my favorite pieces from the Tracee Ellis Ross collection from  Do you have some pieces?

When I first saw the Long Sleeve Turtle Neck Sweater Tunic,  I really didn’t think this was going to be a piece I would love.  Is it rare for me to go for the over-sized pieces? Yeah, it is.  I tend to think over-sized sweaters make me look larger but I was pleasantly surprised at how this one fit my frame. Of course, I thought about wearing it with skinny jeans or leggings, but I wanted something different.

I decided to pair this beautiful Heather Red sweater with my teal pleated knit wrap dress from Eloquii instead.  In my personal opinion, the combination is perfect, especially for fall. Right?

Everything about this look just made my heart celebrate this changing season.

Both pieces are equally great separately as well. Go ahead and pair the Tunic Sweater with a pair of great skinny jeans and pumps or leggings and kicks. You will love how surprisingly soft this sweater is and hella warm!  The wrap dress is a great jumper style dress you can pair with almost any type of shirt. I've been wearing it with simply $10 tees from Target and booties. I can't wait to take it into spring and do a cute crop top and sandals.

No matter how you choose to rock your pieces this fall, play with them and see what happens.   See ya next time!! I promise.
