When Winter Calls:Transitioning with Style

Thursday, November 30, 2017

Hey Pretties!!

The weather here is finally a bit chilly and I have to admit as much as I love sweater weather, I have some pieces in my closet I can't bear to let go of for the season.  Case in point, this gingham print fit, and flare from Lane Bryant.  This dress was clearly a summer hit this year.  It was the perfect mix of chic, classic and flirty.

Seriously, I totally understand the heartache Rudy endured in the episode where she had to give up her cute green dress and accept winter time (Cosby fans would understand). Do you have a summer piece you love so much you just can't bear to see it packed up for the season?  I just had to come to grips and figure out a way to keep it in the rotation a little longer for the fall/winter.

One sure fire way to still rock your favorite summer dresses or even shorts in this changing seasons would be to layer the pieces up.   Try some fun tights and dusters to give new life to your favorite piece of the season.

I paired it with a pair of tights from target.com, a turtleneck and a cool leopard moto from Charlotte Russe.com for a cool girl fall/winter look.

Are you mixing up summer pieces for winter looks?  What are you doing to keep your summer hope alive?  Let me know!

Nothing Sweeter Than Sweater Weather featuring Tracee Ellis Ross for JCPenny and Eloquii

Monday, November 20, 2017

Hey Pretties!!

I know it’s been a while since I last did this thing called blogging. I really don’t know what to say, I guess you can say, “Don’t Call It A Comeback.” Now that this is out the way…it’s finally Sweater Weather here in Alabama and what better excuse for me to be a little excited about blogging again? Plus, I was really excited to share one of my favorite pieces from the Tracee Ellis Ross collection from JCPenny.com.  Do you have some pieces?

When I first saw the Long Sleeve Turtle Neck Sweater Tunic,  I really didn’t think this was going to be a piece I would love.  Is it rare for me to go for the over-sized pieces? Yeah, it is.  I tend to think over-sized sweaters make me look larger but I was pleasantly surprised at how this one fit my frame. Of course, I thought about wearing it with skinny jeans or leggings, but I wanted something different.

I decided to pair this beautiful Heather Red sweater with my teal pleated knit wrap dress from Eloquii instead.  In my personal opinion, the combination is perfect, especially for fall. Right?

Everything about this look just made my heart celebrate this changing season.

Both pieces are equally great separately as well. Go ahead and pair the Tunic Sweater with a pair of great skinny jeans and pumps or leggings and kicks. You will love how surprisingly soft this sweater is and hella warm!  The wrap dress is a great jumper style dress you can pair with almost any type of shirt. I've been wearing it with simply $10 tees from Target and booties. I can't wait to take it into spring and do a cute crop top and sandals.

No matter how you choose to rock your pieces this fall, play with them and see what happens.   See ya next time!! I promise.

Silver Lining

Wednesday, February 8, 2017

Hey Luvs!!

I know it's been a minute. I always take a small break from everything just to have a minute to myself in January. It's the perfect time for me to adjust my focus, set some goals and let go of some defeats. You know? Because shit can get blurry and you need to refocus to catch the message.

During this time off, I try to catch up from the hangover of everything going in the world. Life.. Politics..Love..Life, now I'm back and ready to share with you so many new things! Time to come back out and find my silver lining. So with that, I looked at what I was doing, evaluated my risks, criticized my choices and created a new plan for my 2017. And I'm getting excited!

This minute of self-care is about smiling again. Taking chances and doing new things, I even changed up my looks and tried a new hairstyle, which many of you were all about. My wardrobe even changed the course a bit, I've begun wearing more black and noticed I actually like it!

Maybe this was an age thing? Maybe I need to love on black for a minute to appreciate some other things, like these sweet silver oxfords. Who knows, but for now these are the silver lining to my looks.

If you follow me on Instagram, you may have noticed my new love for these silver oxfords from Kensie.  They go so well with my current looks and they're extremely comfortable. Perfect if you walk a lot or just not a heels type of girl, like me.

Want to add some silver lining to your life?

Check out these perfect metallic oxfords that will sure to put a smile on your face.
