2014: A Look Back

Wednesday, December 31, 2014
Well Folks it's finally that time to look back at my favorite post and say, farewell.  I think I had a pretty awesome 2014 in fashion. I had a great mixture of pieces and as you can see many times I wore them more than once. I played with graphics tee, mixed prints and threw in a tutu. I really can wait to see what is ahead.

I was featured as Plus Size Blogger of the week on Plus Model Magazine.
The Curvy Fashionista joined 30PlusStyle for Swimsuit Fun!
Ebony featured us as well.

Now let's just take a look back at some of my favorite looks of 2014.

2014 was all about being inspired.  Many plus size women tend to think they can't wear what the average woman is wearing.  This was sort a mission of mine to show we can wear everything they wear and still have the confidence, style and beauty.

Here are my  favorite inspired looks of 2014.

This look was inspired by Just Patience.   Inspired by a Cobalt Body Con

Simply Cyn has to be one of my all time favorites and this look was me.

I did stag some celebrity style also.  This one from the timeless beauty, Nia Long.

Of course I got inspired by my main muse, Miss Tracee Ellis Ross, The Long Black Dress

A little more inspo from Tracee,

And lastly, my everyday inspiration....My Mom.

Graphic Tees were also a big hit for me this year.
I think I had alot to say, SO I SAID IT WITH MY CHEST!

NERD LOVING In Blue or Pink

Wearing a Graphic Tee with a nice fitted skirt is always a great way to speak.

When rocking out with pants, keep this slim to not box up your look.

I could never get over a great print item.

I took a couple fashion risks this year, I am so proud of myself for stepping out my shell and having fun.

At the end of the year, I have made many of my blogging dreams come true and the new year has many wonderful opportunities waiting for me. I hope you can join me in them and Please Share, Like and Sub.

Here is the last look from "A Curvy Holiday" series collaboration.  This time the ladies and I decided to go with a look for the social look for the holidays.  I went for a holiday night on the town with girlfriends. Of course, you can't do a holiday look without Jibri, well.... I can't do a holiday without Jibri.

This is my ever faithful High Waist Flare Skirt from the awesome designer.  I often thought about getting more options of the item but decided to stick to buying the classic pieces that will last well beyond it. lifetime.  This skirt does all that and more. I've worn this skirt all year round for several occasion in my life.  I paired the skirt with a sheer burnout top from JCP with a festive green lace bra from Lane Bryant.  I wanted to keep the pops of color throughout the outfit so my Cobalt coat was the perfect topper.

30PlusStyle: LBD Lookbook

Tuesday, December 16, 2014
Good Morning!

As the holiday season approaches there has to be a 30PlusStyle moment and we saved the very best for last!  What would this festive season be with the legendary Little Black Dress a.k.a LBD.
Well we decided to give this old standard our own 30PlusStyle Twist..... of course.

As you can see my LBD is a Long Black Dress, since I'm not really a fan of short dresses or skirt, I always gravitate towards the  midi or maxi lengths. Now the first rule of a great LBD is simple.....Fit to Your Frame.  A great fit will flatter the hell out of your best features. Period.  For my frame, a mermaid style dress gives me a form fitting silhouette for my curves and length that will make me look like a tall glass of hot cocoa. lol!

This dress was the greatest find ever at the local Dillards'......Regular $204....Sale $74.50 and extra % off.  I paid 46.00 for this stunner and I have to find somewhere to wear it to this season.

I guess it would be a good time to say......

Dear Future Husband,  I clean up real nice boo.

Back to the look...I kept the accessories clean with a little Bling. And to knock off the chill of winter, my Private Agent Trench from CityChicOnline.

I love driving downtown during this season, the Christmas lights fill the streets with a beautiful glow. It make the perfect back drop.

Dress: Dillards' Outlet: Adrianne Papell | Coat: CityChicOnline | Shoes: Unisa

As all great things come to an end, so shall this lovely year. It has been a wonderful journey. I've learned many lessons from these ladies. Style, business, friendship and plain ol' blogger logistics.  I can't wait to embrace the many blessing of 2015 and I see these ladies doing so many great things in the plus size world.

Salute Ladies!!!

Holiday Style: Day to Night featuring City Chic Online Clean Cut Coat

Thursday, December 11, 2014
Good Morning!!

Yesterday in the Curvy Holiday Series,  I brought you this ever so wonderful holiday treat in the form of a Bright Red Felt Coat called Clean Cut from City Chic Online.  I am so in love with this coat!  It really is everything and when something has me this excited I must show you the versatility.

As I said before, this felt like material winter coat reminds me of those crafty project from elementary. You know the ones where you made Christmas ornaments or valentine hearts from?  I always wondered what it would feel like as a blanket....I don't have to wonder anymore. City Chic created the perfect coat for the season. I clearly see this taking me all the way to New Years without skipping a beat.

To show off the style options of this piece I decided to do  a Day to Night look. Yesterday's day look included Skinny jeans, tee and leopard accessories. For the night look,  I decided to continue with the leopard and be a flirt with this fit and flare by Fashion to Figure

This fun dress was made for the holiday season. The scuba material is easy to wear and I think it's spill proof  which is excellent for the gatherings! Besides leopard will never go out of style, I can clearly wear this again in the Summer.
The key pieces in your wardrobe should cost a little more for the quality of the product.  Cost Per Wear is extremely important when building your wardrobe and making it last.
For more info on cost per wear, check out my blogging mentor and boo, The Curvy Fashionista as she breaks it down.

I completed the look with my favorite thrifted clutch, black tights from Hanes and patent leather pumps from Unisa.

Continue having a great Holiday Season!!

A Curvy Holiday Part 2: Family and Friends

Wednesday, December 10, 2014
Good Morning!  Here is another look from "A Curvy Holiday" series collaboration.  This time the ladies and I decided to go with a look for the holiday family and friend gathering.  It's a much easier dressing occasion. I usually go for a feminine tee, jeans with a bright coat and fun accent pieces.  The equation always seems to work for me and for this out the look was exactly what I was going for.

I'm wearing the awesome Clean Cut Coat from City Chic Online, the name is so on point for the coat.  I purchased it during the After Thanksgiving Sale with a 50% off discount and then I joined the mailing list and received $25 DOLLARS OFF INSTANTLY!!! If you know anything about me and how I peep the deals and steals , you should know this was a deal I could not pass up.  The price was so good I had to buy another coat and a got my mom this coat also for my mom for Christmas.....Shhhh Don't Tell Her.

I paired is with a super cute sheer polka dot tee (very old) from Liz Claiborne and Torrid Jeans. Accents with leopard of course.

Let's talk coat for a minute shall we? I'm in love with this coat.  The material is a soft velvety felt that literally reminds me of those Christmas ornaments I made for my mommy in elementary. The bright red color is the perfect POP OF COLOR for the season with the classic finish touches of black polished buttons; this coat can easily be a part of my every winter wardrobe.

Outfit Details:

Top: Liz Claiborne (Similar)
Jeans: Torrid
Bootie: Rue 21 (Ebay)
Scarf: Old
Bag: Vintage
